1.up to 是．．．的义务
eg: It is up to you to support your parents.
赡养父母是你的义务．
2.in terms of 用．．．方法
eg: An idea is expressed in terms of action.
思想是由行动来表达的．
in terms of 由．．．观点
eg: You must not see life in terms of money.
你不可用金钱的观点来看人生．
3.nothing short of 除了．．．别无他法
eg: Nothing short of war will avail.
除了战争别无良策．
nothing short of 和．．．一模一样；实在是
eg: His recovery was nothing short of a miracle.
他的康复简直就是个奇迹．
4.nothing less than 除了．．．别无他法
eg: Nothing less than a miracle could have saved him.
要救他除了奇迹以外别无他法．／不出现奇迹他就没救了．

2.have seen better days 曾经有过一段好日子

再没有人比曾度过荣华日子的人对贫穷的感觉来得如此强烈．
have seen better days 昔盛今衰
eg: He was dressed in an old coat that had seen better days.
他穿着那件曾经风光，但是现在已经破旧的上衣．
3.count for nothing (little) 不重要，无足轻重
eg: His advice counted for little.
他的忠告无足轻重．
4.go a good (long) way 有很大的用处
eg: The money will go a good way towards my school expenses.
