It is twenty-three hours thirty universal time and here is the news in Special English.

In Iran, former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has criticized the country’s presidential election. The former President said the official results of the election go against democracy. He also accused the Iranian government of suppressing the rights of people to test the election results. The statement comes two days after Iran’s Guardian Council confirmed the re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Two defeated Presidential candidates Mir-Hossein Moussavi and Mehdi Karroubi also criticized the election results on Wednesday. They said the government led by President Ahmadinejad is illegal.

Ousted Honduran President Manual Zelaya is in Panama to attend the swear-in ceremony of President-elect Ricardo Martinelli. Mr. Zelaya has delayed plans to return to his own country where he faces the threat of arrest. Early Wednesday, the Organization of American States threatened to suspend Honduras as a member if Mr. Zelaya is not returned to power within three days. A spokesman for the Obama Administration said the United States supports the time limit set by the OAS. He confirmed that officials with the American State Department and National Security Council met with Mr. Zelaya in Washington.

A coast guard of Japan says North Korea has warned ships to stay away from several coastal areas during military exercises later this month. The warning has raised concerns of possible missile tests. Coast guard officials say they received an email from North Korea warning ships to avoid ten areas in the sea of Japan and Yellow sea. Japanese officials said North Korea has given few details about the kind of military exercises plan. The top American military officer Admiral Mike Mullen said on Wednesday that there was no sign North Korea was prepared to test a missile in the next few days.

The American Treasury Department has placed restrictions on a suspected Al-Qaeda supporter and three leaders of a Pakistan based Islamist group. The Treasury said Wednesday that it is seizing all United States property belonging to the four men. One of the men reportedly gave money and help to Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. The three others are thought to be leaders of Lashcar and Taibar. Indian blames this group for the deadly terrorist attacks last year in Mumbai. The Treasury said it took action two days after three of the men were added to a United Nation’s list of terrorist suspects.

A new public opinion study in Pakistan shows that more than 80% of the people see the Taliban as a major threat to the country. The study was made by the World Public Opinion Organization based in Washington. In 2007 only 34% of the people question reported similar opinion. The study found that 69% of the Pakistanis continued to have a bad opinion of American government. About 79% say the NATO operation in Afghanistan should end.

French officials say rescue cruise in Indian Ocean have found no flight recorders from the wreckage of a Yemeni airplane. French and Yemeni officials reported early Wednesday that a signal from one of its recorders have been heard, but the French Defense Ministry now says the signal came from one of the plane’s emergency signals. The Yemeni air flight carried 153 when it crashed Tuesday near the Comoros Islands. Rescuers have just found one survivor, a 14-year-old girl. Baya Bakari was traveling with her mother from France to visit family on the Comoros. A French official says she survived by holding a piece of wreckage for over 12 hours until rescuers arrived.

Palestinians clashed with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank on Wednesday near the city of Nablus. Israeli officials say soldiers shot at the legs of four Palestinians who were throwing rocks at Israeli vehicles. The violence comes after the Israeli military announced that it will lessen restrictions at a heavily used security position south of Nablus. Military officials said Palestinians crossing on foot will no long have to go to extensive inspection.

The World Banks says it plans to provide almost 59 billion dollars this year to help countries affected by the world economic crisis. The bank said Wednesday this amount represents a 54% increase over the last year. World Bank Group President Robert Zoellick says requests for aid rose sharply this year. He said the requests will probably until 2010. People in poor countries are among the most affected by the world recession.

The Enter Parliamentary Union has called on Sri Lanka to start an investigation into the murders of three lawmakers. Two of the lawmakers were Tamils. The IPU Human Right Committee said Wednesday that nothing prevents the Sri Lankan government from investing the murders now that the Civil War has ended. Sri Lanka has said says it was unable to stop an investigation because the murders took place in territory held by Tamil rebels. The Committee’s Chairwoman Canadian Senator Sharon Carstairs spoke to VOA about the issue. She said Tamil lawmakers are often victims of unfair arrest and aggression. She said the Committee is concerned about the situation of 12 Tamil lawmakers who have been forbid to move freely.
