The Philippine has begun 10 days of mourning for former President, Corazon Aquino. Ms. Aquino was sick with cancer and died of heart problem that the age of 76. She is remembered as a leader of the “People Power Protest” in the Philippines in 1983. Ms. Aquino led millions of people in the peaceful demonstration against longtime leader Ferdinand Marcos. The protests ended the 20 years ruled by Mr. Marcos. Ms. Aquino then was elected President and served until 1986. The peaceful rebellion in the Philippines meant hope for other nonviolence protests around the world.

Police in Iraq say the bomber attacks in Shi'ite religious centers in Bagdad have killed at least 29 people. More than 130 others were wounded. At least six bombs explored that people were leaving Friday prayers. In Bagdad’s northern al Shaab area at least 21 people were killed outside the Shi'ite center when the car bomb explored. No group has claimed responsibility. Sunni Militants and al Qaeda terrorist set targeted Shi'ite religious centers in the past. A statement by UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon said it appeared that the attackers wanted to incite religious violence.

Iraq Officials say three visitors believed to be Americans have been detained after crossing the border into Iran from Iraq's independent Kurd’s area. The United States Embassy in Bagdad is investigating the reports. A security official in the area says the three were part of the group of foot visitors. The group arrived early this week in Irbil, the Capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. They visited the popular vacation area near the Iranian border on Thursday. The three later contacted the forth person in the group to say that Iranian troops had questioned them. It is not clear if or when the visitors went into Iran.

A conservator of Iranian religious leader has demanded that the opposition leader’s apologies for inciting weeks of protests. Ayatollah Ahmed Jannati said on Friday that defeated presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi and the ally Mehdi Karroubi shall express regrets for all the people killed on violence after the elections. Mr. Jannati spoke during Friday Prayers in Tehran. He criticized opposition claims that the presidential election in June was not fair.

Two leading human rights groups are calling for an investigation into the death of Nigerian Islamic group leader. Nigerian police officials say the Boko Haram leader Mohammed Yusuf died in a gun battle with police in the northern city of Maiduguri on Thursday. In the statement on Friday, Human Rights Watch called reports of the killing extremely warning . Amnesty International Condemned what it called “illegal killings” by Nigerian Security Forces. Temporary Honduras President Roberto Micheletti said that there is no way that ousted President ManuelZelaya will return to office. His statement takes reduce hope for a negotiated settlement to the political crisis there. Honduras has been political divided since the military forced Mr. Zelaya into exile. Supporters of Zelaya gained together again on Friday in the streets of the Honduran Capital, Tegucigalpa. Police fired tear gas set protestors who blocked the main road out of the Capital.

A United Nations report says the civilian deaths in Afghanistan have increased by almost 25% compared with last year. More than 1,000 civilians had been killed in the first half of 2009. The UN assistant delegation in Afghanistan says the Taliban militants were to blame for almost 60% of civilian deaths. Bombs and suicide attacks were the main causes. The report also blamed the Afghanistan government and the International Forces for Airstrikes that mistakenly killed hundreds of people. The reports said militants more and more are basing themselves in civilian areas in attempt to avoid being indentified.

Pakistan Supreme Court has declared that former military leader Pervez Musharraf’s Emergency Rule in 2007 violated the Constitution. Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and 14 Judges announced the ruling. President Musharraf fired Mr. Chaudhry and other judges during the crisis. Mr. Chaudhry was returned to his position early this year.

And President Obama says his economic policies have helped slow the recession. A new report from the Commerce Department shows that the economy decreased by 1% between April and June that represents of larger improvement from the 6.5% decrease reported in the first three months of the year. Mr. Obama expressed hope about the economy but he said unemployment is un-major problem. He said the economy will not be fully recovered until the job situation improves.
