President Obama says he plans to work on immigration reform after he deals with issues of healthcare and economic recovery. Mr. Obama said he hopes to work on new immigration legislation next year. He spoke at the join news conference in the city of Guadalajara with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. Earlier at the meeting the three leaders promise to cooperate on economic issues and the fight against the A H1N1 Flu virus.

American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the leader of Angola has promised to hold a presidential election in what she called “a timely manner”. She spoke to reporters Monday after meeting with President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos in the Capital, Luanda. Angola has not had a presidential election in nearly 20 years.That’s partly because of the long civil war that ended in 2002. Mr. Dos Santos has been president for 13 years. From Angola Mr. Clinton traveled to Democratic Republic of Congo. She was welcomed by large crowd in Kinshasa. She is expected to meet with President Joseph Kabila on Tuesday.

Iraqi official say bombings in Bagdad and Northern Iraq have killed about 100 people since late last week. Officials say the most recent violence included two truck bombings near the Northern city of Mosul at least 28 people were killed, about 150 others were wounded. Officials say the bombs destroyed about 35 houses in the town of Karsla. Several bombings were also reported in Bagdad where at least 20 people were killed and 100 wounded. Since Friday many of the bombings have targeted Shi'ite Muslims.

Officials in Afghan say Taliban Militants have attacked a government center near Kabul. 4 Militants and at least 2 police officers died during a long gun battle. NATO sent troops to the area. A witness says they saw United States military helicopters. An Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman told the VOA that the government expected the Taliban to target the area. He said Security measures are in place to try to prevent such attacks.

An opinion study of votes in Afghanistan shows President Hamid Karzai leading in the rates for the presidency. However he does not have a large of lead to avoid a second election. Afghanistan holds its election August 20th. The study shows that 45% of the decided voters support President Hamid Karzai. It suggested that Former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah has the support of 25% of voters who have already decided. The third place candidate in the study was former Planning Minister Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.

The Interior Minister of Pakistan says he believes Al-Qaida is trying to find a Chief Terrorist to replace  Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud. Interior Minister Rehman Malik told the VOA that intelligence confirms that an American missile attack killed Baitullah Mehsud last week. Agents are working to provide evidences of his death. However an aid to the Taliban leader says Baitullah Mehsud is alive. Hakimullah Mehsud also rejected  stories about a violence power struggle within the Pakistani Taliban.

Mexican police have arrested a suspected drug organization member they say was responsible for a plot to kill President Felipe Calderon. The head of Mexico’s Anti-Drug Department said Dimas Diaz Ramos is the suspected chief financial officer of the Sinaloa drug organization. 4 other suspected drug-gain members were also arrested on Sunday. The Mexican official also said the plot was an answer to the President Calderon’s strong action against drug-selling and organized crime.

Iranian reports say President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has dismissed intelligence officials who disagreed with him about taking action against government critics. Media reports a lawmaker say the President has dismissed at least 4 top members of the Intelligence Ministry. Reports say the dismissal will link to disagreements about broadcasting statements made by detained prisoners. They say intelligence officials did not want to play on the air statements that will make in prison. Iranian officials have arrested thousands of demonstrators who claimed the presidential vote was unfair. The government denied these.

A Russia Human Rights group says armed men have kidnapped the head of Chechnya based non-government organization and her husband. The Memorial Rights Group says the men seized Zarema Sadulayeva and her husband from her office in the Chechen capital, Grozny. Zarema Sadulayeva operates the Save the Generations group. No other details were immediately available.

Indonesian police say it appears the wanted Malaysian Terrorist Noordin Mohammad Top was not killed in the police raid Saturday. Earlier report says he was dead. Police now say the examinations of the body of the man killed in the raid showed that it is not Noordin. The dead man was killed by police who surrounded his hiding place in a rice field in Central Java Province. Indonesian police are waiting for genetic test results to confirm the man’s identity.

In the United States, California officials say they have confirmed what caused the death of singer Michael Jackson. But police have asked them not to release the information. Officials in Los Angels said police investigators won the facts about what killed Jackson to remain under a security hold. Police are investigating the events leaving off to the singer’s death on June 25th. Jackson died after his personal doctor found him not breathing in his bed.
