Mr. Obama said that the negotiators are ready to reach an agreement. But he said there has to be movement on all sides. Two weeks of negotiation have failed to produce an agreement on reducing the gases bring for climate change. Rich and poor countries disagree about gas industry targets and the financing. President Obama attended the meeting with representatives of many nations. Earlier the President met separately with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. China and the United States are the largest producers of “Green-Houses Gases”.

President Obama says that the United States and Russia are very close to agreement on the new arms control treaty. Mr. Obama discussed the issue with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in a private meeting on Friday. The two men were in Copenhagen for the Climate Conference. Mr. Medvedev said that there still is more work to be done on details of the treaty. American and Russian officials have been negotiating for months on an agreement to replace the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. The treaty ended earlier this month.

Officials in Pakistan say that a bomb killed 11 people as they gathered for Friday prayers in the northwest part of the country. The bomb exploded at an Islamic religious center next to police headquarters in the Lower Dir area. Hospital officials say that the bombing wounded at least 28 people including several children.

A Pakistani man says that he admitted involvement in the deadly terror attacks in India’s financial capital after he was tortured by police. Mohammad Ajmal Kasab told the judge in Mumbai on Friday that he was withdrawing his earlier statement. The suspect denied that he is the man seeing in pictures carrying a gun in the train station on the day of the terror attacks. And he denied any involvement in the attacks. The Pakistani man said that he traveled to Mumbai for a visit and was arrested 20 days before the attacks began. In his earlier statement Mr. Kasab said that he was working for the banned Pakistani based Islamic militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The Indian government says that it may import some foods to deal with high food prices. India’s Finance Minister says that the imports will be used to increase the country’s supply of food products. Government reports showed that food prices have increased 20% since last year. The higher prices followed that drier than normal raining season. The unusual weather led to a poor harvest on summer crops such as rice and sugar. In recent days Indian lawmakers have urged the Parliament to control the raising prices. The government already has eased import restrictions on several kinds of food. But some lawmakers believed the easing of the restrictions is not enough.
