It is 00:30 universal time with WORLD NEWS in VOA Special English. I'm Christopher Cruise reporting to the world from the VOA headquarters in Washington.

The United States and Poland have signed an agreement to establish a missile defense system in Poland to protect NATO members. American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski attended the signing ceremony in Krakow. The agreement is the first to include a plan that uses middle- and short-distance missiles instead of the longer-distance missiles opposed by Russia. Russia continues to object to the plan saying it threatens its security. But Ms. Clinton said the system is defensive and not directed at Russia. She also said American Allies in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization fully support the new agreement. Secretary Clinton is on a 5-nation visit to the area.

Officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo say at least 230 people were killed when a truck carrying fuel exploded in south Kivu province. At least 190 others were injured. Red Cross and local officials say the speeding truck turned over in a rural village near the border with Burundi. United Nations officials say people were trying to collect fuel leaking from the truck when it exploded. Fire spread to nearby homes and to movie houses where people had gathered to watch World Cup football. The Red Cross says at least 61 children are among those killed. Officials have not yet confirmed what caused the accident or the explosion. The driver of the truck escaped before it exploded.

American General David Petraeus is calling for a united effort in the Afghan War in his first public comments since arriving in Afghanistan. The General spoke to almost 2,000 Afghan, American and international guests at the American Embassy in Kabul Saturday. He said both civilians and military members must work as a team to end the almost 9-year-old war. General Petraeus arrived in Kabul Friday to take command of the 240,000 of American and NATO troops in Afghanistan.

American Vice President Joe Biden is in Iraq Saturday for an unannounced visit with American troops. He will also meet with Iraqi officials. Mr. Biden talked to news reporters about the failure of Iraqi politicians to form a new government. He also said he is hopeful that a representative government will be formed. A statement from the White House says Mr. Biden will celebrate the July 4th anniversary of the United States' Independence with American troops. He is also expected to reconfirm America's promise to support Iraq for the long term.

The families of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel say they plan to march in the Gaza Strip on Sunday. They want to urge Hamas to continue to make demands during prisoner-exchange talks with Israel. The Palestinians say they will go to the house of Hamas official Mahmoud az-Zahar. They will urge that all prisoners on the list officially presented to Israel be released in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. The march is reaction to similar advance organized by the Shalit family in Israel. Their marches have pressed Israeli government to do more to gain the soldier's freedom.

Villagers in southern Lebanon clashed Saturday with a United Nations peacekeeping group. The villagers took the soldiers weapons and wounded one of the peacekeepers. A spokesman for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon said the local people threw objects at peacekeepers near the village of Kabrikha. The UN Interim Force said Lebanese army troops intervened to restore calm and return the missing weapons.

Americans are attending outdoor parties, parades and firework shows as the nation observes its birth 234 years ago. The July 4th Independence Day holiday marks the time in 1776 when the American colonies officially declared freedom from Britain. At the time, there were 13 colonies. In Washington D.C., thousands of people are expected to watch a fireworks show Sunday on the National Mall. Similar events are planned in cities across the country.

Efforts to clean the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico continued Saturday. Crews carried out tests on a Taiwanese ship that takes in oily seawater through special holes. It then separates the oil and pumps the cleaned water back into the Gulf. The ship's makers say it can process up to 80,000,000 liters of oily water a day. The ship is about 275 meters long and has been named "A Whale". A smaller group of oil removing ships was also hard at work on Saturday.

And voters in 12 Mexican states are expected to choose city officials and governors on Sunday. The elections are taking place 6 days after a candidate for governor in the northern state was shot dead while campaigning. Rodolfo Torre represented the opposition Institutional Revolutionary Party or PRI. The killing of Mr. Torre was Mexico's highest-level political murder in 16 years.

Now briefly, here again is the major news of the hour.

The United States and Poland have signed a defense agreement that establishes a missile base in Poland. At least 230 people were killed when a truck carrying fuel exploded in the Democratic Republic of Congo. And Americans are celebrating Independence Day with outdoor parties, parades and firework shows.

1 、 General Petraeus arrived in Kabul Friday to take command of the 240,000 of American and NATO troops in Afghanistan.

2 、 The march is reaction to similar advance organized by the Shalit family in Israel.

Similar events are planned in cities across the country.

3 、 The elections are taking place 6 days after a candidate for governor in the northern state was shot dead while campaigning.

我听到清晰的 a , in a northern state

There is a sun in the stone in hotting your hand

There is a co...ming touch from the soil on the ban ...

And you hold round a tree and lay deep in the sand

They are warmed well then balzing and sleep in your hand

A flower in the snow, so frightened on the flow, singing south of this tree to grow under that you

All the living things sing a different song

When your glow burn out, you'll find the song on your road

又是“a 、the” ,哈哈。

There is a song in the stone you holding in your hand
不知道stone是不是对,但you holding in your hand越听越像,意思上也更通顺,嘿嘿

here is my dictation of the song for sharing , i should say that really is a special song:

there is a sun in the stone you're holdin in your hand

there is a coming touch from the soul after the gun

when you hold around the tree or lay deep in the sand

the war aimed well than glazing and sleep in you hand

a flower in the snow so fright to own fume

same saucers change to grow and then true

......(the sentence you marked in blue)

when you open your eyes, you'll find a song on your road

1. There's a soul in the stone you hold in your hand

2. There's a code meaning touch from the soul , "Ah zah Dai"

3. When you whorl around a tree or lay deep in the sand

4. The ()well then breathing and sleep in your hand

5. A flower in the sonw so fragile and (few)  sings sarsar strength to grow under chill

6. All living things sing a different song

7. When you open your eyes, you will find a soul on your road

2. There's a code meaning <mean> touch from the soul , "Ah zah Dai"

3. When you whorl around <hold and round> a tree or lay deep in the sand

4. The ()well then breathing <will wan breathe in> and sleep in your hand  (  )里实在听不出来,是否是the soul 精灵的名字呢?

5. A flower in the sonw so fragile and (few)  <fool> sings sarsar strength to grow under chill

Libra
