Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his country is ready to send uranium to other countries for enrichment. Mr. Ahmadinejad told State TV that Iran has no problem with sending low-enriched uranium to France and Russia. Under an UN-supported plan Iran would give uranium back several months later when it is enriched to a 20 percent level. Iran has been unwilling to accept the deal because it said it is concerned that not all the uranium will be returned. Iranian President Ahmadinejad also says his government may release 3 jailed Americans in exchange for Iranians held in US prisons. He told Iranian State TV Tuesday that talks about such an exchange are taking place. He did not say which Iranians he wants the US to release. Iranian officials detained the 3 Americans last July after they crossed into Iran from Iraq. Iran has accused them of spying. Family members say the 3 were walking in Iraq's Kurdish area when they accidently crossed into Iran. The US says the accusations are false and has called for their release.
