The commander of the United States and coalition forces in Afghanistan says security conditions in the country are no longer getting worse. But General Stanley McChrystal says allied forces have not yet completed the fight against militants. He says he still believes the security situation in Afghanistan is serious. He also said that coalition forces are not winning. General McChrystal said Thursday that the coalition has made progress since last year and has set up the possibility for better result this year. General McChrystal and American Defense Secretary Robert Gates are in Turkey for a meeting with North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies.
