The president sopke at the White House shortly after declaring the oil spill of national significants. The declaration makes it easier for the federal government to help with clean up efforts. The oil spill is about 25 kilometers south off Louisiana. It could reach the state's coast by Friday. It is also threatening the coasts of Texas, Mississippi, and Florida. Oil is leaking from a damaged well at a rate of nearly 800,000 liters each day.
