The oil company BP has launched a new operation in an attempt to stop a huge oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico. President Obama has warned that there is no guarantee the procedure will work. BP on Wednesday began pumping a mixture of heavy fluids into the leaking well. The company chief said it would take 24 hours before they know if the "top kill operation" was successful. Another company official told reporters late Wednesday that BP wants to make sure the operation is completed correctly. He also said BP is doing it best to work on decreasing the effect of the spill. The company has said there is a sixty-to- seventy-percent chance of success. The work is been carried out by robotic submarines.
