United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appealed for seventy one million dollars in an emergency humanitarian aid for Kyrgyzstan. Mr. Ban said the areas affected by ethnic clashes need food, water, electricity and medical supplies. He also said that about three hundred thousand people are estimated to be displaced within Kyrgyzstan. Mr. Ban said the UN will seek financial aid next week for Uzbekistan. The UN believes about one hundred thousand people fled to Uzbekistan. The international community is calling on the Kyrgyz temporary government to investigate the cause of the clashes between ethnic Kyrgyz and Uzbeks in the south. The temporary government believes two thousand people have died in the fighting.
