The United Nations has appealed for nearly 460 million dollars in emergency aid to help Pakistani floods survivors. The UN is concern that militants could use the crisis to take action. The flooding started last month in the country's northwest. The Pakistani army has carried out several offensives against Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups in this area over the last 2 years. The floods have so far killed more than 1600 people and affected close to 14 million people. Flooding is expected to worsen in the south as more heavy rains are predicted for the area.
