The United States Senate has voted to end debate over the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with Russia. Senators agreed to move toward a final vote on the treaty. A final vote is expected by Wednesday. Nearly 12 senators with Republican ties have expressed support for the agreement. This could mean that it will get the two-thirds majority needed for Senate approval. The Obama administration considers the treaty an important part of redefining relations between Russia and the United States.
